Choosing top ten Cantonese opera folk singers is one of activities during ˇ°Foshan 2003' Cultural Week of Cantonese Opera entitled `Charming Foshan and Splendid Qionghua`ˇ±. With widespread social influences, this activity is a cultural grand occasion organized by cultural departments and the media. And lots of people will participate in it. The activity will be divided into 3 phases and participants will be divided into three groups respectively called Children's group, Grown-ups' group and old-aged people's group. The town, the district and the city are responsible for organizing preliminary contest, semi-finals and finals respectively. The selection will be made at each level that fully reflects that the Cantonese opera gains popularity among people in Foshan and plays an important role in further promoting the popularization and raising standards of Cantonese opera among local people. Cantonese opera, an exotic flower in the garden of operas will have a prosperous future in Foshan and even in the Pearl River Delta. |
